We are rather lenient as admins, but there are a few rules that should always be followed. If these rules are broken, the warning system will be carried out, no questions asked, no exceptions. (Except, you know, when there are sometimes exceptions. XD)
[/li][li]GODMODDING:[/i] If you think you're godmodding, you probably are, and you should probably edit your post. Nobody likes to have their character taken over temporarily to suit the whim of another RPer. Once again, if you're slightly godmodding with permission from the other person involved, note it at the bottom of your post to avoid the consequences.
[/li][li]CURSING:[/i] We don't mind at all if you curse a bit. Don't make it every post, and don't make it all your character says. Some curse words are still on the banned list; if a word you're trying to use is being modified, you should edit your post to not include that word, as it is obviously more offensive than we are willing to let you be. Being allowed to curse does not mean you can curse at other members out of character, however--this will result in an immediate warning.
[/li][li]SEXUAL CONTENT:[/i] The characters of this board will most likely be largely adults, and adults do have sex sometimes. However, in order to keep as many people comfortable with using this board as possible, we do ask that you don't get graphic about it. If the detail is more than they would give in a mild R-rated movie, it's too much for a normal thread. If you want to continue your thread into content that might be considered graphic or potentially offensive, post [explicit content] at the end of your thread title. If you are another user just reading through threads and you find the content offensive, stop reading it. Nobody's forcing you to; and it's unfair to prevent others from going through with their plots just because you can't handle it. When you're RPing a situation like this, if you are doubting whether your content is too graphic, it probably is; you're welcome to ask an admin or post an explicit content warning just to be safe. We do encourage the old skipping-to-morning trick, if you don't want to post a warning.
[/li][li]MATURITY:[/b][/i] We welcome both teenage and adult members to our RPG, but a certain level of maturity is expected. Be respectful toward others, accept opinions different from your own, and don't be obnoxious, and you should be okay on this rule.
[/li][li]CBOX:[/b][/i] We love our cbox and we don't want to have to take it away, so please, use it intelligently. The same swearing rules from above apply there; we don't really care what you write or to whom, as long as it isn't offensive to anyone and nobody is getting into a fight. I expect anyone who is offended or catches someone else fighting to report it so we can deal with this on an individual basis instead of taking the cbox away entirely.
[/li][li]Original Characters:[/b][/i] I know how much you love Edward Cullen, but he is not from Elquin, and he would not be on Elquin. The same goes for all characters from other books, movies, or TV shows. If you have an original Character who was on a Twilight RPG site then you are more then welcome to bring them over, as long as you make the appropriate adjustments as far as the Werewolf rules go, and such. This board is meant to consist of 100% Original characters. If we find out you are a copy righted character we will ask you to change you character until they are original.
[/li][li]Cross Overs:[/b][/i] This Universe is Elquin, not Earth. None of the bands from our world exist here, neither do any movies, books, TV shows, or celebrities. Of course you can make parodies such as "Barry Trotter" which just happens to be about a wizard boy with a heart shape scar on his head. We are fine with that, we just don't want characters being the lead singer of N*SYNC ... that's just wrong.
[/li][li]Race Restrictions:[/b][/i] We offer many different race options for your character, and we want you to have fun with that, but we don't want you to get carried away. In Elquin Werewolves only transform during a full moon, Pixis are small, and Vampires do not sparkle. If you are unsure of the restrictions of the race you have chosen, let us know and we will give you the basics.
[/li][li]MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS:[/b][/i] You can have as many characters as you want, but we do require that each character has their own account. The name on your account should be the first and last name of your character, middle name optional. When you make a new character, you do it with a new account, and the new character's name.
[/li][li]POST LENGTH:[/b][/i] You don't have to write a novel for each post, but you should have at least a good solid paragraph. The more the better, but we understand that it's not always possible to write five paragraph essays for each post. It should always be possible to get one good sized paragraph in, however. If you feel like it's not, perhaps you should consider asking the person who posted before you to give you a little more to work with.
**[/b]note: Your paragraphs should be written in real English, as well. No chatspeak, no abbreviations, no TalKeN LyEk ThIs.
[/li][li]MARY-SUES:[/b][/i] If you don't know what a Mary-Sue is, or you don't know if your character is one, go take the test and find out. Mary-Sues will not be accepted; we will send you here to take and fail the test, and then ask you to edit your character until they are of a bearable level of perfection.
[/li][li]ADOPTIONS:[/i] Character adoptions are both welcome and encouraged, but there are a few rules to go along with them. First, unless the original owner gives express permission, nothing about the character can be changed when you adopt. Not the name, not the history, not the current plots and relationships. Old owners have the right to remain as active in their character's future as they choose to be. If you can't handle these terms when adopting, don't adopt.
[/li][li]CREATING THREADS:[/i] This isn't a huge deal, but it's come up on other RPGs and it kind of pisses me off a little, so I'm making an official code to demonstrate the status of a thread when you create it. Please follow this, or at least something similar. I don't care what kind of brackets you use, just use something to avoid confusion. The bracketed status word(s) are placed after your thread's title, i.e. "Follow Me Home [open]" so that everyone knows whether they can post on your thread or not.
[/li][li]HAVE FUN!!![/b][/i] This is the golden rule, and anyone caught not following it will be made to watch Harry Potter Puppet Pals until they either laugh or die. XD
[/li][li]***Don't be afraid to email, IM, or at least PM an admin, for any reason, at any time. We love to hear from you guys, and we've got a total open door policy around here--you can come to us about anything, whether it's a question about whether Werewolves can fly (they can't), or a suggestion to improve the whole site... we'll never turn you away or shoot down any ideas from our members.

[open] = anyone can post on your thread. Multiple people could show up, and you don't have the right to complain.
[open=1] = the number doesn't have to be 1, it's just the number of people you're willing to allow in your open thread.
[character's name] = That specific character, or those specific characters if there are multiple names listed, are the only people allowed to join the thread. Could also be [character's name + 1] if you are willing to allow a certain number of people to join with you and the designated person.
[by request] = the thread is closed; if someone wants to post there, they have to PM you to ask permission. You are in every right to say no, and they will not be allowed to post.
[membergroup] = only members of that membergroup may post.
[other] = you can really put whatever you want inside the brackets, as long as it explains what you want your thread's status to be. These labels can be used in any combination, as well.
***[Explicit Content] = This is the warning that must be given if your thread is getting too sexually graphic for all audiences. Post it as "Follow Me Home [Rita Pearl] [Explicit Content]"--it must be added to the end of the title and any other status you've already used.
[/li][li]HAVE FUN!!![/b][/i] This is the golden rule, and anyone caught not following it will be made to watch Harry Potter Puppet Pals until they either laugh or die. XD
